Motto “ITS Semangat Baru” telah merebak menjiwai keseluruh aspek. Dibidang SDM, ITS menorehkan sejarah baru dalam pertambahan profesor. ITS menambah 16 profesor baru dalam 11 bulan.
Profesor adalah jabatan fungsional tertinggi bagi profesi dosen. Jumlah profesor pada suatu perguruan tinggi mencerminkan kualitas SDM dan institusi tersebut.
ITS mengukuhkan 8 orang Profesor pada 25 November 2020. Sebelumnya, pada Januari 2020 dikukuhkan 2 profesor, serta 4 orang profesor pada Desember 2019.
Jumlah keseluruhan profesor ITS hingga 1 Desember 2020, termasuk yang telah meninggal dunia sebanyak 132 orang. Yang masih aktif berkarya sebanyak 104 orang, termasuk 8 orang yang berstatus profesor emiritus.
